The Deal:Gibson USA and Native Instruments have announced a new contest where you can win a new Gibson USA Les Paul Traditional Goldtop and a Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3 Kontrol Edition. Everything you need to setup your home recording Studio!
The Deal: We know you dream about running around a huge stage…jumping off a giant stack of PA speakers…doing karate-kick jumps. Unfortunately, you’re probably rocking these sweet moves in your basement. Either way, a guitar cable can seriously get in the way of your rock star poses.
Time for a wireless system! If you’ve been thinking about relegating your cables to the closet, here’s a good deal on a Line 6 X2 XDS95 24-Bit Digital Instrument Wireless System. If you purchase one of these systems before the end of September, Line 6 will send you a $25 Chase Visa Rebate Card.
They have knocked an extra $50 off the regular sale price of the Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups. This guitar has the look and feel of an original ‘62 SG, but with its array of EMG pickups it delivers thoroughly modern tones. Fitted to the solid mahogany body is an EMG 81 pickup at the bridge and an EMG 85 at the neck, the exact array used by rockers like Zakk Wylde.
The Deal: Rule #1: you can never have too many guitar stands. Rule #2: Guitar stands made out of the wrong materials can seriously damage the finish on your guitar.
Hercules Stands has gone to great lengths to make sure their guitar stands are manufactured from specially formulated foam at all contact points that the stand will touch your guitar’s finish. In addition, the Hercules TravLite Electric Guitar Mini Stands are built out of tough steel and fold up for easy transport. Add to that the $5 instant rebate that Musicians Friend is currently offering, it’s time to pull out that wallet and tell MF to send a few your way!

I was pretty shocked earlier today when I saw the headline on Harmony Central that 60,000 Orange Amplifiers had been stolen from Orange headquarters in Borehamwood, England.
After reading the article, I realized that thieves did not make off with 60,000 amps (which would have been quite a feat!), but rather 141 Orange Tiny Terror combo amps worth £62,000. These amps were part of the first shipment of the new amp into the UK.
According to the press release, the amps were “stolen from a temperature controlled, sealed forty foot container. The robbers couldn’t break the locks so they attempted to use an acetylene welder and then angle grinders to cut through the quarter inch locking steel plates.”
Of course, the authorities and Orange are trying to find more information about this crime. Orange Amplifiers are putting up a reward of 5000 (not sure if it’s dollars or pounds) for information that will lead to a successful conviction and recovery of these amplifiers. If you have any information please contact the local Police force on 0845-3300222, quoting Crime Number J1/08/3588. The company has the serial numbers of all the products stolen which is available on it’s website.

This contest got me in the mood for some Sabbath, so here’s the band performing Paranoid back in 1970!
The year was 1987. I was ten years old. Even though my older sister typically listened to bands like Depeche Mode and They Might Be Giants, she had just come home with a new cassette tape - Guns n’ Roses’Appetite For Destruction.
Looking back, I was listening to some pretty crappy music. Poison and Whitesnake totally ruled my jambox, but this new band struck a chord with me. This music was aggressive. This music was honest. This music was rock and roll.
Although I didn’t yet play an instrument, I was very familiar with the electric guitar. I could tell that this band’s guitarist, Slash, was playing with a different goal in mind than many of the guitarists of the 1980s, who seemed more concerned with how many notes they could pack into a solo.
Now, more that 20 years later, Slash has become perhaps the definitive lead guitarist of the past two decades. Of course, with that stature comes great influence. These days, a guitarist with great influence has the opportunity to attach their name to the guitar and gear of their choice.
This page is meant to be the Internet’s definitive guide to Slash guitar gear. Enjoy!
Slash Guitar Gear on DunlopTV.
Check out these two videos from DunlopTV. The video on the left features the man himself, discussing the guitar gear he uses on stage and in the studio.
The second video features Adam Day, who has been Slash’s guitar tech since the beginning of Guns N Roses. Adam takes us backstage at a Velvet Revolver show to run through the finer points of Slash’s live gear.
Slash Signature Guitar Gear
Slash and his signature tone have always been associated with the classic Gibson guitar through a Marshall amp combination. It’s natural that both companies, plus others, would want to promote that fact by releasing Slash signature products.
Epiphone Slash Signature Les Paul Standard Plus Top
The Epiphone Slash Signature Les Paul Standard Plus Top was designed and produced in close cooperation with Slash himself. (more…)

Perhaps you’re a selfish person, though, and you don’t like seeing others succeed…you’re in luck! After you cast your ballot, Acoustic Guitar also gives you a chance to enter their Players’ Choice Awards Giveaway. They’re giving away $3,000 in gear, broken down like this:
Grand Prize - $1,500 worth of your favorite gear (1 winner)
